Why Pop Music Is Boring: Indie Night For Hippies And Vinyl Fans
Our doc film double bill starts at 7PM with "Last Hippie Standing" (2002, 45mins). Director Marcus Robbin presents a stylish portrait of contemporary Goa, the 1960’s hippie paradise.
At 8PM we are screening Brendan Toller’s debut I NEED THAT RECORD (2008, 77min), which features interviews with indie legends Glenn Branca, Chris Frantz (Talking Heads) and Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth). It deals with far more than simply the dying indie record stores, but also is an insightful examination of the music industry as a whole. In between and after the films we are showing music video clips by cult director Chris Cunningham (Portishead, Aphex Twin, Bjork a.m.m.)
